Caption: Were I but a gossamer figment of they father's illumination … that I might reach for the golden moment … the singular image of that sweet glimmering night … then upon my breast I would beseech thee, do not speak kindly, but carry a dagger and consign thyself to havoc. I'm not convinced that you're quoting Shakespeare. I suspect you're stringing together a bunch of random words. Knaves! Fiends! Avail thyself of house and bitter rain and sleep no more.

What do you mean? This is your café. Well, it is now, after you sold it to me for $1. but before that, you bought this building using money funneled to you through a shell company traced back to a Russian oligarch ... That's what the paper trail will show, anyway. How could you? Should've known he would never have given me that dollar without strings attached.

Caption: 1982. Last night I looked across the alley and saw your light on, but you weren't answering your tin can. I didn't know you called me. Maybe the string wasn't tight enough to receive the call. But I was busy anyway. I was writing to my pen pal. Chuck's been having trouble working up the courage to talk to some little red-haired girl. He was even too timid to try my suggested "pull her hair" ice-breaker. That's my best move. I don't know why you men think us women like that. Try my can again tonight, I'll try to get better reception.

Caption: Vancouver was nervous, just like me. There we stood, two people who'd Facebooked every day for a year … who earn a living telling stories to millions … yet neither of us could string together a complete sentence. She drew me into her home in absolute silence ... Almost. I could hear out soft footsteps on her carpet. I could hear my own heart beating. I could hear my phone ring. I could hear her say "You gonna get that?" I could hear myself say "It's just a telemarketer." Dios mio.

Long ago, I went by another name and lived a life of debauchery on the carnival circuit ... This is not a dream. ... until the heat died down from mystring of laundromat robberies.

Caption: Lemont, where was Dick Cheney while people were dying in the New Orleans flood? Well … Way I see it, there are three possibilities, Susan. Option one: He was bass fishing in the one part of Wyoming where there's no cell phone service, no TV and no tin cans on strings. Option two: After Cheney #7 died of a heart attack, Cheney #8 was busy being cloned in a the White House basement's secret laboratory. Her couldn't be reached on the phone because he was still gestating in his vat. Option three: Cheney had more important things to do. I think number two sounds most realistic. Me too.
