Almost everything I watch is online. Maybe I'll just get a Roku box and stream on Netflix and Hulu for $20/month. It's really over, isn't it. You'll find another man who won't mind paying $120 for the Sewing Channel. (Originally published on 2011-09-01).

The repair guy looked at it for a minute and found out what was wrong. Oh, good. It turned out the needle was dull. All it needed was a new one. So it works now? Oh, I have no idea. I'll let you know if I ever get around to buying a new needle.

Caption: Thanks for the um, blank CD, Jeremy. I'll burn the song I'm writing onto it as soon as I think of a rhyme for "orthodontist." Great pile of fabric squares, mom. I'll have them sewn into a quilt by the time you leave for college, no problem. And I can't wait to use my new bookshelf, dear. All I have to do is get the shelves to quit falling out. Next year can we forget the handmade gifts and go back to buying impersonal, over-hyped junk for each other? Please?

Image Number: 55837
Caption: I'm sorry, sir, you have to pay at the increased rate. Listen, I signed up for your "all the best" package last year, but then to get the SYFY Channel, I had to sign up for an extra "tier" of service at $5 more per month. That's correct, sir, and we thank you for your gullib ... um ... loyalty. But a rate increase is a rate increase. "All the Best" should mean all the best! Sir, your basic lineup did include all the best. It even included the Sewing Channel. Are you aware I can cancel my cable and get most of what I watch, for much less, from Netflix and online? Or I can start reading books. Now we know you're bluffing.
