Caption: I just watched "Deep Space Nine" all the way through for the eighth time. But this time I didn't enjoy it very much. I was … bored. What does that say about me? Could it be I have a thyroid problem or cardiac condition or some other illness that causes depression? Maybe it just means you'd already seen it seven times. I tried to schedule a doctor appointment, but they refused. Thanks a lot, Obamacare.

Caption: I'm still trying to figure out why I spend the first year on health care instead of on jobs. After all, Bill Clinton did that, and it nearly wrecked his presidency. It's like I didn't learn from history. And for some reason, I waited until my political capital was almost gone before finally introducing the jobs bill. He really needs to work on his campaign ads. Obama 2012: Better late than never.

Caption: When the President refused to exted the Bush tax cuts, he explained why and that made sense to me. Dr. Noodle. But then when he extend them, I was confused. When the President insisted on a public option for health care, he explained why and that made sense to me. But then he abandoned the public option. I was confused. When the President insisted that the very rich, not just the poor, have to sacrifice to help balance the budget, that made sense to me. But then he signed a bill that didn't ask the very rich to pay even a single cent more in taxes. And you're confused. Not anymore. I miss being confused.

Caption: Meanwhile, across town … Democrats reduced taxes, but we still convinced most voters their taxes had actually gone UP. The nonpartisan GAO announced Health Care Reform would REDUCE the deficit, but we still convinced most voters it would INCREASE the deficit. We convinced unemployed people to vote for a party that blocked the extension of unemployment insurance. Fear, Inc. BONUSES FOR EVERYONE!!! Woohoo!!!

Caption: Two weeks ago … "I (Rush Limbaugh) have been treated to the best health care the world has to offer - that is right here in the United States." "I don't think there is one thing wrong with the American Health Care System. It is working just fine. Just dandy." That's based on how they treated me ... ... A millionaire who can afford to pay whatever they charge me. Bankrupt from medical bills.

Caption: At the ad agency … I'm telling you, it practically sells itself. Just listen … Rush Limbaugh, outspoken opponent of health care reform, was rushed to the hospital with heart trouble. Maybe he was faking his symptoms … just like Michael J. Fox. First off, your "Rush Limbaugh Heart Trouble Jokes" CD is the DEFINITION of a "short shelf life" item ... But it's comedy gold!

8. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2009-09-27 reform
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2009-09-27 Pub. Date: 2009-09-27
Image Number: 38664
Caption: Random man on the street, explain to me why you think health care reform is "socialism." Simple, Bob. Anytime BIG GOVERNMENT steps in and keeps the free market from doing whatever the @#$% it wants to us, that's socialism. Like the other day, I was having a heart attack ... called 9-1-1. County wanted to send me an ambulance to take me to the nearest cardiac unit. That's socialism. No way do I want government deciding where I'm going to go. I see. Go on ... I called several different ambulance companies, said I wanna go to the best cardiac unit in America, and asked them to submit competitive bids. And then? I died before any of them got back to me, but at least it was MY CHOICE.

Caption: Just read your new column: "What Chucho's Hauling Van Tells us about Health Care Reform." What an unorthodox metaphor. Sometimes, Brown, I marvel at how a man's brain can make the connections yours makes. Um … thanks? Sir? Yes? Was that praise or an insult? I hope someday you'll donate your synapses to science.

Caption: The government may force us to pick from a few healthcare plans designed by government bureaucrats, Louise. Having choices we don't like is like no choice at all, Harry. In '94, when we derailed universal healthcare, we got to CHOOSE a plan that grew so expensive we couldn't afford to keep it ten years later. But at least it was our choi -- CLICLUNK. ... Harry? Louith ... my mandible thell oth ... I don't want government bureaucrats telling me what to do with MY mandible, Harry.

Image Number: 35437
Caption: "In 1994, the HMOs aired a 'real' middle-class couple, Harry and Louise, talking about the Clinton Universal Healthcare Plan. Their fears convinced America the plan would lead to shoddy coverage, high taxes and global thermonuclear Armageddon. Then the '94 Harry and Louise disappeared ... ... but now, in our hour of need, they have returned to scare the spit out of us all over again!" When Harry and I were impaled by dolphin, our HMO said it was a pre-existing condition and refused to treat us. Stick to the script! So we died, is what I'm saying... I love my HMO. Government bad.

You wanted a new idea, Mr. Bunker … "Harry and Louise" aren't new, and the ones you knew from '94 disappeared without a trace. Wrong, little goil. Hurry up, meathead! 1994 Version of Harry and Louise. Dios mio. Break out the cam'ras, we got a commercial to film. Dear God, what's that putrid smell?!

Caption: At least 11 million undocumented immigrants live in the United States, in violation of the law. Horrible! They should all be rounded up and deported. They're breaking the law, and no society can survive if people don't respect the law. It's not that big a deal. President Bush authorized spying on Americans without having to get a warrant, in violation of the law. Horrible! Hw should be impeached. He's breaking the law, and no society can survive if people don't respect the law. It's not that big a deal. Thank God for culture clash.

Caption: Across town, Susan Garcia meets with a new client: the Republican National Committee. We want to run ads on Spanish language media. Ads saying that democrats tried to make immigration a felony. I see. But Congressman Sensenbrenner wrote that amendment. Correct. And he's a republican. Minor detail.
