Caption: I wrote a very realistic screenplay that subverts all the usual Hollywood cliches. We don't see the protagonist in a moody bar when he feels down; we spend an hour watching him fall asleep all alone in front of his TV … and when he tries to stop a wedding, it takes him half an hour to find a good parking spot, and he misses the whole thing. We watch him circle the block for half an hour. Cliches are cliches for a reason.

Caption: You know how I've been seeing a lady from Vancouver long-distance? Dr. Noodle. I'm finally going to see her again in person, in just two weeks!!! But now I'm terrified. The one time we were together in person, it was hot and steamy and magical. We tend to build things up in our memories, and reality can never live up to our memories. Try to temper expectations. Too late. She's already started calling me "Thor." Ph.D.

Caption: C-Dog don’t never dream 'cause dreamin' just make real life worse, Big L. Let's say I dream I can stand on a corner or walk across the street without some cop bothering me. Then I wake up, no matter where I go, there some cop lookin' out his car window at me, just waiting for a reason to "put me in my place." If I don't DREAM things can be better, then I ain't never disappointed. I know what you mean. Last night I dreamt you weren't depressing.

Caption: What were you thinking about when you went to bed on 9/11? I was praying to wake up the next day and it'd all just be a dream. What were you thinking about when you went to be on 9/11? I was hoping we'd rise to the occasion and honor the dead, the survivors, and the heroes ... by failing to rebuild the Twin Towers, by curtailing our own civil liberties, by calling each other "un-American," by torturing prisoners, mocking the French, invading the wrong country, and having our airports inspect kids' and old people's underpants. I like to have realistic hopes. I don't think sarcasm's allowed on 9/11 day.

Caption: Lemont, where was Dick Cheney while people were dying in the New Orleans flood? Well … Way I see it, there are three possibilities, Susan. Option one: He was bass fishing in the one part of Wyoming where there's no cell phone service, no TV and no tin cans on strings. Option two: After Cheney #7 died of a heart attack, Cheney #8 was busy being cloned in a the White House basement's secret laboratory. Her couldn't be reached on the phone because he was still gestating in his vat. Option three: Cheney had more important things to do. I think number two sounds most realistic. Me too.

Caption: You wanted to see me, Mr. Fitzhugh? Garcia, your idea for the boundy paper towel ad campaign just isn't working for me. You have a man cleaning with it, and that's just not realistic. I say we go in a different direction. You mean you want me to use a woman instead. Sure, let's do what every other agency does, and show a comforting image of a woman who gets all tingly drying dishes. I'm saying she gets really excited, if you know what I mean. Maybe we can even show this woman submerged under water, happily drying a dish with boundy paper towels, not even noticing that she's suffocating to death -- because she's just so excited to be drying a @*$% dish! Great! have it on my desk by Wednesday.
