Caption: I read your article about Thanksgiving. Great. I think it's shameful you would somehow find fault with the Pilgrims and the brave settlers who founded the greatest nation on earth. My family came over on a boat to forge a mighty and wonderful nation and I don't appreciate you badmouthing them. Your family came over on a boat? On it, under it ... same difference.

Caption: I read your article about Thanksgiving. Yeah? Yeah. I think you're right that we should turn it from a day of celebration into a national day of mourning … when we reflect on the cultures and the millions of lives settlers destroyed when they founded this nation. I'm not sure about the name Mourngiving, though. I am.

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Image Number: 175264
Caption: We forgot something at the Thanksgiving party the other week. Whachoo-mean? We forgot to not have one. It celebrates a false creation myth that we tell ourselves so we can forget that what really happened was a massive genocide. This is why we never let you say the toast, Lemont. There shouldn't have been a toast. I guess it a coincidence you only sayin' all this after you finally run out of leftovers.

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Caption: I read your stupid article about so-called voter-suppression. How is it discrimination if the rules apply to everyone? So what if Georgia's exact match system rejects your voter registration if any public servant ever typo'd your name in a state document? If it's good enough for John Smith, it's good enough for Mahershalahashbat Siddhartha. And not being allowed to vote without a street address doesn't just affect Native Americans on reservations ... it affects everyone who doesn't have a street address.

Caption: Thousands of Native Americans might not be allowed to vote if they don't have I.D. that shows their street addresses. Ever since they won the right to vote, they were promised they could vote using I.D. that showed their P.O. box, since many live on the reservation and don't have street addresses. The country's never made Native Americans a promise it didn't go on break. So ... it's almost like America made a promise to break every promise it made them. Now's not the time to set up paradoxes, Clyde.

Caption: Guess what daddy heard on the radio today, son? I heard that an English settler named Clarence Hornswaggler stole the recipe for popcorn from Native Americans. It was an early example of cultural appropriation, and we don't encourage that sort of thing in this house. I thtill want popcorn fow dinnew. (Sigh), ok, let's try this: No popcorn for dinner because I said so.

Caption: You ever think maybe the world would've been better off if we'd lost the Revolutionary War? Seriously? You gonna say that right before the Fourth of July? It's just a thought experiment. You scared of thought experiments? C-Dog ain't scared of nothin'. All right. Let's say France never helped us win the revolution. We'd have lost. Britain probably still would've freed the slaves in 1833, so ... No civil war. No backlash to reconstruction, so ... no KKK. France wouldn't have drowned in debt. Their monarchy would've lasted longer, so ... no Napoleon. No Napoleon, no threat uniting German nationalists, so ... no World War I or II ... no Hitler. No Manifest Destiny, so no genocide of Native Americans. The UK wouldn't have turned to the Middle East and Africa to replace its lost holdings, so ... no carving up the Ottoman Empire, no chaos in the Middle East, and no ISIS. Bruh ... if you don't wanna loan me $20 for fireworks, just say so. We'd probably still have black licorice. No getting around that.

Caption: Let me give you C-Dog's abbreviated history of the United States. Chapter 12: "Thanksgiving." Buncha immigrants get on a boat an' go someplace where they don't even know how to feed themselves. Some Native brutha - an ex-slave named Squanto - teach them fools how to grow corn an' how not to eat poison ivy an' spit like that. In return for savin' they life, these immigrants give Squanto a chicken leg an' a coupon to Red Lobster, an' then steal his country. Then Abraham Lincoln sign a licensing deal with Hallmark to make an official "Thanks-Squanto-Now-Stick-Em-Up" day. That's not exactly what happened. They shorten that to "Thanksgiving" cuz it easier to fit on a card.

Caption: What happened in Bothton? Well, ok … I'll start from the beginning … In 8,000 B.C., The last glaciers from the great ice age melted, and a small peninsula began to emerge … No, I mean what happened latht week? Thomebody thed thewwath a boom. Patience. We'll get to that in about eight years. Now, once the land defrosted, Native Americans moved in ...

Caption: …So Phil Anders shows up like nothing ever happened, right? Like he's never insulted me, never made me feel like dirt, never made me feel ignored… SUSAN, I SAID I JUST GOT BACK FROM A SUPERNATURAL TIME-SPACE VORTEX IN VIETNAM WHERE I MAY HAVE GIVEN CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS BAD DIRECTIONS AND INADVERTENTLY CAUSED THE SUBJUGTION OF THE NATIVE AMERICANS! ...And if there's one thing I hate, it's being ignored, so I told him...
