Caption: I went to the Russian winter Olympics. Oh, that's cool. How was it? Well at first I was afraid it was going to be nothing but unfamiliar customs and strange foods … but then I saw their harsh anti-gay laws in action. It was just like being in Arizona, or Utah, or Oklahoma, or Texas, or Louisiana, or Mississippi, or Alabama, or South Carolina. Always nice to find a little bit of home in a foreign land. And their fast food gave me the poops, just like ours.

Caption: Prince visits Lemont's dream. I'm not gay, but every time I saw you I thought "Now that's one sexy brother." Even in the eighties, when men were ashamed of thinking things like that. Even then, it didn't feel awkward at all to think that way about you. That's because when you saw me you didn't see the man, you saw pure music. You saw life. Everyone wants to make love to life. That's why it doesn't bother you that you've always wanted to make love to me ... maybe a little awkward.

Caption: Heavenly Father, should I preside over a gay wedding even if it means half my congregation will quit in protest? Should I lead my flock to the right side of history … Reverend of the Year 2000 … Even if the sheep that put the most in the collection plate feel cozy on the wrong side? Give me a sign, Heavenly Father ... So you're saying I should ponder on this a few more years.

Caption: Reverend Wilfred W. Wilfred … yes? I am the Lord. I want you to retract your support for gay marriage, so that your congregation will come back, and you can once again afford to pay your electric bill and your employees. Are you sure you're God? Yes. You sound an awful lot like my secretary Jerome, speaking through a rolled-up newspaper. No, I don't think so ...

7. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2012-02-05 homosexual
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2012-02-05 Pub. Date: 2012-02-05
Image Number: 75448
Caption: I'm thinking of coming out, Susan. I've been keeping it a secret since … Forever. I guess I've been ashamed. But that's selfish of me. To spare myself the social stigma, I've been living a lie. But that just reinforces the idea that it's wrong for people like me to be how we are. It's important for each of us to speak up, to say who we are, because there's safety in numbers. When people realize they know one of us ... ... Then all of a sudden we don't seem so weird or scary or ... wrong. After all these years ... It's time for me to admit I thought Star Trek: Voyager was a great show. Dios Mio, nobody cares about Star Track. TREK!

Caption: Lemont Brown interviews President Obama's "Evolving Position on Gay Marriage." Um … I don't mean to embarrass you, but … you seem to be devolving. Am not. Well look, now you're just a single-celled microbe. "Marriage" is between a man and a wom (bloop). I don't believe any of that happened, Lemont. You say that a lot.

Caption: Lemont Brown interviews President Obama's "Evolving Position on Marriage." What does the President think about New York legalizing gay marriage? The issue of marriage equality is best handled by the states. But … if there's one thing the Civil Rights Movement taught us, it's that only the federal government can stop the states from denying minorities their equal rights. SEGREGATION NOW, SEGRATION FOREVA! Stop that.

President Obama's the product of an interracial marriage ... ... which was illegal in almost half the country when he was born. Caption: The whole "Gay Marriage" thing isn't turning out as we'd said it would. Fear, Inc. It's been legal in a bunch of states for years now, and hasn't destroyed the institution of marriage or made people want to marry their pet turtles. … And it's given extra business to the whole wedding industry: printers, clothiers, caterers ... Don't forget divorce attorneys. "GAY MARRIAGE LEADS TO MORE DIVORCES!*" Oh, how I want to kiss whoever invented the asterisk (unless it was a dude).

You know who hash arms? Alligators. Alligatorsh live in Florida. Cuba is near Florida. Florida is home to Cape Kennedy! Clearly, John F. Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2009-01-25 Pub. Date: 2009-01-25
Image Number: 29572
Caption: I'm tired of people comparing anti-gay laws to bigotry against Black folks. I mean, WE faced slavery and lynchings and beatings. Sure, gays have been beaten and killed for centuries, slaughtered in the Holocaust, and denied equal rights and everything, but that's just not the same. If it were all that bad, they'd have had their own miniseries by now. Say what? Where's the gay "Roots"? You just don't see it. Until I see the gay Kunta Kinte on my TV, I refuse to take any of this seriously.

Image Number: 28120
Caption: Taking rights away from the gays is NOT the same as bigotry against black folks! You choose to be gay, you don't choose to be black! Let's say you're right… You choose your religion, too. If I took away rights only from Catholics, would that be bigotry? Well, I'm not Catholic, so no. It wouldn't be.

Caption: So, you voted for Obama as the realization of Dr. King's dream that we'd all be judged by who we are, not what we are… Check. …and that all of us would have equal rights. Check. And then you voted to take equal rights away from gay people. Check. And you don't see any shameful irony in that. Check.

Caption: I still say "gay marriage must be stopped"… ..but my heart's not really in it anymore. It's almost as if I'm too busy worrying about the fact I'm losing my home, my job and my health insurance. When I said bring in your significant other, I meant your wife. It's like me and my boogeyman are just going through the motions. Y.M.C.A.!
