Caption: Ask Sadie Advice Hour. What's your problem?! The other day, my grandpa tried driving to the corner store but got lost and ended up at the beach, six states away. How do I get him to realize it's time to stop driving without hurting his feelings? Excellent question. it reminds me of the time in 1863 when grandpappy Cohen accidentally led a caravan of zoo-bound pelicans onto a field in Gettysburg. One particularly panicky pelican escaped and distracted General lee, and the rest is history. Um ... Ok ...

Caption: Sadie, I just heard they discovered seven earthlike planets around a single star. Three of those planets are in the habitable zone, so they might just support life. I am just so excited! I guess what I'm asking you is ... were you this excited when earth was first discovered? Almost as excited as when I first discovered vengeful retribution.

Caption: This is child protective services, how may we hinder you? Hi, I had my son strapped to my back while I was working. I was reporting on how early voting was going. We were on a bus with a bunch of elderly black people who were on their way to vote, and they were all ordered to get off. I interviewed county officials about why they did that. Explain to me how that's child endangerment! The child was in danger of losing faith in his system of government. Give me back my son!!

Caption: I'm not happy. I think I married the wrong person. Dr. Noodle. But I can't leave. Leaving is too hard. I mean, we've got all the same friends. They'd hate me. And she's got complete control of the bank accounts. What would I do for money? But maybe I could just start all over. Who needs any of that stuff? There's a whole world out there. Maybe it's not too late to explore the world, wrestle and alligator, move to Jamaica, change my name, and meet the woman I was really meant to be with. Sometimes it actually is too late. Zzzzzzzz.

Caption: You know how Marvel had heroes star in separate movies, and then they all united in "The Avengers"? And then on Netflix Marvel had separate series, and then they all united in "The Defenders"? Why don't newspaper comic strips do that? You've got a couple hundred separate characters who've been building an audience for decades. What if the protagonists from "The Oldersons," "23 Skiddoo" and "Should've Ended in 1950" got together? It'd be epic. They could call it "The Dependers." Careful, you ain't all that young neither, bruh.

Caption: If I had kids, I wouldn't want them having to take care of me when I'm old, Lemont. I know what you mean. I used to think that too, until I had a kid. I get a lot of joy taking care of him. Being the one he can depend on. Who am I to deny him the same joy? Taking care of me in my old age may be a great honor for him. A child is not a retirement plan. He is in a society that's not rotten to its core!

Caption: I've been wanting to see "get out" for weeks, Susan. I remember before I had a kid, I was at the movies every week. Now I don't have the time of the energy. I can't remember the last movie I saw that didn't involve a talking fish or a puppet. Reason #28,754 why I'll never have kids. On the other hand, movies won't change your diapers when you're old.

Caption: No, momma, I don't think you should get a reverse mortgage. Why? Well, you know Steve Mnuchin, the guy Donald Trump appointed Treasury Secretary? The bank he ran used to convince old people to get reverse mortgages, then they foreclosed on a lot of those houses for the tiniest of reasons. They foreclosed on one home for an unpaid bill of 27 cents. Yes, I know Magnum P.I. said it's not a scam to steal your house. But if they have to SAY that ... (Sigh) ... Yes, momma, I know how you love Magnum P.I.

Caption: No, momma, I didn't see that post on "The Newsfeed." Remember, momma, I told you everyone sees a different newsfeed tailored just for them. It's based on what we search for online, what we type, etc … Ok, watch … load Facebook. "Load" means … never mind ... turn on the Facebook. Ok, now tell me what's on your screen. Uh-huh ... Uh-huh ... See? That's the perfect example, momma ... I don't see a single post about Idris Elba's booty on MY newsfeed. And I'd like to stop talking about this now.

Caption: When my momma was a kid, the really old folks she knew were Spanish-American war vets and veterans of the Civil War. When we were kids, the really old folks we knew were World War I veterans. Now, the really old folks out there are World War II and Korean War veterans. Vietnam vets are getting pretty gray, too. Kinda makes you think, right? It make me think we fight too many @#$% wars.

Bowel movements regular again? Mom, you can tell me all this on the phone. So please stop posting about all that stuff on my Facebook wall. Mnphn.

Caption: Dick Fink, how long have you been standing there? Oh … I don’t know. They took my watch, I was mugged while saving a kitten on my way to volunteer at the orphanage for the elderly. Is this about how your job is in danger? What? It is? I had no idea. I've been too busy supporting my seven children and donating half my salary to leprosy relief in Guam.

Caption: Hello black, Latino, elderly, poor or college-age voter. You look familiar. 3C. No, I don’t think we've ever met before. Yeah we have … You were here four years ago. You were trying to keep me from voting by telling me all kinds of misinformation. Like "If you vote but you haven't paid your taxes, you'll be audited." 3C. I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not listening to you. Get lost. SLAM! Say, have you heard news reports about the courts overturning the strict new voter ID laws? I just wanted to say those were all typos; and if you don't have exactly the right kind of ID, and you try to vote, you'll be jailed in a Turkish prison. I'M NOT LISTENING!

WHY ARE THEY ON MY FACEBOOK? That's just your news stream, momma. WHAT? WHAT IS THAT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Want me to stop the world so you can catch up? Does this mean someone's been on my computer machine?

Caption: I'm tired of liberals saying republicans are playing political games, just because we're requiring voters to show IDs. I mean, sure, blacks are far less likely to have state-issued IDs. And sure, you need a birth certificate to get one, and the poor can't easily afford that. And sure, plenty of elderlies couldn't buy one even if they could afford it, because the state lost their certificates decades ago. ... And sure, all those demographics are likely to vote democrat. What was I saying? Lost my train of thought.

Caption: Candorville Chronicle. Problem is, our readership's aging. In a decade or so, our most loyal readers'll be gone. We've got to figure out how to appeal to new and younger demographics. Hold on. Jane, our elderly readers are complaining, so get rid of the new comics and bring back "The Oldersons." Anyway, as I was saying...

Caption: Finally, as the elderly man you now see before you, Lemont Brown has become the paragon of responsibility. Except for the part about having had a love-child with a woman he doesn't even like, which led to him suing her for custody and us all being here today. I'm not even sure how that one happened, it's so out of character for him. But other than that ... paragon of responsible-ness, all the way. I'm only mumblety-five!

The president believes the debt commission hasn't gone far enough in recommending cuts to services for the poor, the middle class and the elderly. So, meet the new Co-Chairmen of the debt commission: The Grinch, and Ebenezer Scrooge. I don't believe that happened, Lemont. With those two guys distracted, Christmas is gonna be great.

Caption: Hello young, low-income, or minority voter. Don't forget to vote this Saturday. You mean TUESDAY. And remember, if you're a student and your parents claimed you as a dependent, you're ineligible to vote… Huh? That's a lie. …And if you do vote, you'll lose your financial aid and health insurance. You're crazy. If you haven't paid your taxes and you vote, you'll be audited. Ok, that's it. Get lost. SLAM! If you have a Spanish surname and you try to vote, you might be deported to Cuba. Millions of minorities, elderly, poor, and injured veterans have been accidentally electrocuted by voting machines. ...Just sayin'. I'M NOT LISTENING!
