Caption: Fe is the chemical symbol for iron, atomic number 26. Sometimes the periodic table of elements seems like high school, full of cliques and gossip. Hydrogen and oxygen atoms spend lots of time hanging out together while elements like Argon and Radon are loners, never bonding with others. Gold, Au, and Silver, Ag, are the rich elements, but I honestly think iron the the most popular. I can't believe iron thinks "rusty" is a term of affection!

Caption: Atomic Gossip. That oxygen is dating two hydrogens at the same time! If those hydrogens find out he's dating them both, things could get frosty! Or they might get angry --- things that would heat up and boil over! The situation with those three isn't as crazy as the nine oxygens, three nitrogens, five hydrogens and three carbons all living together in a very tangled web of personal relationships! Yeah, that nitroglycerin bunch --- that's an explosive situation!

An oxygen teamed up with a couple hydrogens to make bonds and create liquid assets. Those simple sugars are buying fast-rising energy stocks that'll probably crash later. And the helium atom is selling everything. I think he has to make a balloon payment!

The oxygen molecule is doing aerobics, and chlorine has been swimming laps in the pool all day. Mercury is racing around the track and, of course, the ferrous molecule is pumping iron. That shiny guy just stopped somebody from coming in without paying. He shouldn't do that. The neutron is never charged, and besides ... it's not gold's gym!

Polonius, in Shakespeare's "Hamlet," act one, scene three. Name the three most abundant elements in the earth's crust. By weight, oxygen, silicon and aluminum. Where is the highest chairlift? Breckenridge, Colorado --- but it might soon be surpassed by one in Kashmir! Ernie is totally obsessed with trivia ... He's become a quizzical fitness fanatic!

Caption: It's election time again down there! As usual, the antibodies are single-issue voters, only concerned about defense. The simple sugars and complex carbohydrates are debating energy policy. I bet the sugars have a quick-fix plan and the carbohydrates focus on the long-term. Stomach and brain calls are arguing about the economy. The stomach always wins the arguments with the brain. It has a plan for expansion! And the hormones are running a third-party candidate this year --- They say he's a real agent of change!
