Caption: Remember when we were kids, you wanted to write a story about a white slave in an alternate-universe America run by black slave owners? I've been wanting to read that book ever since. You should really write it. How do you remember that? I don't even remember that. That's why I explained to you the importance of keeping a meticulous journal, on April 11th, 1982. I don't remember that.

Caption: How many people bought your new book, bruh? The Worlds Where They Never Stopped Minorities From Voting? So far it's doing well. I painstakingly went through every single election since ex-slaves won the right to vote … and matched polls and private journals with every recorded instance of voter suppression and every dirty trick from the moment reconstruction ended until today ... Several presidential races, dozens of Senate races, and hundreds of Congressional races would've turned out differently. Our nation's history would've been totally different if minorities were never robbed of their right to vote. It took me eighteen years of research and hard work to piece together alternate histories caused by each changed election outcome. Is there a alternate history where you done told me how many people bought your depressing book? It's doing well.

Caption: I was walking along the sidewalk minding my own business … Dr Noodle … when a cop stopped me and ticketed me for walking without a driver's license. Then he took me to jail and held me there for seven hours. May lawyer found out he's done this before, almost always to black pedestrians. I tried really hard to understand why he does that. I thought "maybe he's just incompetent. Maybe he's emasculated at home so he overcompensates at work. Maybe he was trained to do this and so it's not his fault. Maybe the Mandela Effect is real and he came from an alternate universe where walking without a driver's license actually is illegal. People often go to great lengths to avoid noticing this particular elephant in the room. I'm told it's awfully rude to accuse people who do racist things of being racist.

Caption: I wish I could visit the alternate universe were the Kennedy brothers had never been assassinated. In that universe, we never escalated in Vietnam, Nixon was never president, we never ended the Apollo program … I was born on the moon, Carter and Reagan were never presidents, so Iran never turned out to be what it is and we never helped create all these terrorists ... and "Chappelle's Show" never went off the air. You really need to let that go, Lemont.

Caption: Lemont! It's so good to hear your voice! How's Canada? How's your girlfriend? I haven't seen her yet. You know how hectic travel can be. First my plane was late … then I had to work … Then I ran into a bunch of me's from alternate universes who all warned me not to visit my girlfriend. Y'know ... the usual. Dios mio. Get out of your hotel and go see her!

Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Caption: Lemont meets another Lemont from an alternate reality. Whatever you do, do NOT visit the women you came here to see. I made that mistake. We waited over a year to see each other. We were so in love. But when I visited her, I was so upset about Trump's election, we had a miserable time. It killed the magic. Wouldn't flying thousands of miles just to stand her up kill the magic too? Good point. I'll tell you what ... as a favor to you, I'll visit her for you. I'm on to you.

Caption: At a run-down bar in Canada, Lemont runs into himself from an alternate reality. In 2013, the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act … because racism was over. Three years later, America elects a white supremacist sympathizer for president. On the bright side, now I don't feel so bad about MY America electing President Kardashian. Trade?

Caption: Lemont flew to Canada to be with the woman he's fallen in love with and hasn't seen for over a year. But he paused at a random bar in Vancouver's Gastown district to cover the election for the Candorville Post. That's when the impossible happened. He found himself in the company of dozens of other Lemonts from alternate universes. All in favor of sending narrator Lemont back to annoying-verse? If he reports what he's seen, the girl of his dreams will think he's insane.

Caption: It's like the internet is a window into an alternate universe. In our universe, for instance, J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" movies and Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" earned a lot of money. But on the internet, they were all huge disappointments that nobody went to see. And don't even get me started on the difference between real women and the type you see online. Don't worry, I won't.

Caption: All I'm saying is, if you're going to tell a science fiction joke, it can't be about something so obscure. It's not obscure, it was on TV for five years! I still don’t see why "in and alternate universe, they're rebooting 'Sliders'" is funny. I can't explain it to you. No joke is funny once it's explained. (Sigh.) Fine. "Sliders" was a show about alternate universes. Apparently you can explain why a joke is NOT funny. I don't get it. What do you mean?

Caption: What do you want to watch? I don't know. What do you want to watch? "Fringe." I ain't watching no sci fi nonsense. Not when "Real Housewives of Comptom" on. I got the third choose, so I win. Do-over. I can't go against the sacred rule of threes. I asked, you declined to choose. Then it was up to me. If you want the rule to work for you, next time have the foresight to ask first. Wonder if this's the week Peter finds out he's from an alternate universe. One where I don't kick you @*$%?

Caption: Lemont Brown's Credo Page 1. This, I believe: alternate universes exist. So there are tons of alternate Lemonts who manage to pay their bills on time. Therefore, on a quantum level I am financially responsible.

14. Comic Strip Darrin Bell Candorville 2009-05-08 alternate universe
Cartoonist(s): Darrin Bell
Comic/Cartoon: Candorville
Viewable Date: 2009-05-08 Pub. Date: 2009-05-08
Image Number: 32174
Caption: In an alternate universe, the events of 1948 happen instead of 2009. But for some reason, instead of allowing them to be punished, President Obama PARDONS all Japanese and Nazi war criminals. …So then at Nuremberg when the top Nazis said "We were just following orders," that made a lot of sense to me. You can't really punish folks for torturing prisoners when they were just following orders. ...I mean, what were they SUPPOSED to do? Not follow them. Well... yeah... there's THAT.

Image Number: 32173
Caption: In an alternate reality, the events of 1948 happen instead of 2009. Sorry, boss, I can't possibly read this depressing news in an excited tone. I'd feel like a heel. Yer a good man, Brown. You got principles. But what the people want is excitement, see? I don't know, boss. I got another story for ya to read, then. The headline: "Miracle Cure for Principles Found! It's Called Getting Fired!" President Obama says "It's better not to point fingers" and pardons the Japanese war criminals who tortured our boys! Now that takes moxie!

Image Number: 32172
Caption: In an alternate universe where the events of 1948 happen instead in 2009… A day of reckoning! The civilized world demands either prison or death for the Japanese who ordered torture of Allied war prisoners! President Barack Obama himself says the civilized world must hold these sadists accountable for their inhuman acts of torture! ...And that's why he vows to protect them all from prosecution! Wait, that can't be... Clyde, you been messing with the copy again?

Caption: In an alternate universe, the events of 1948 happen instead of 2009. Tokyo! Imperial Japanese officers sit in grim silence, accused of waterboarding allied prisoners of war! I thought I was drowning. Sometimes they even did it five or six times a day. OH, THE HUMANITY! The entire civilized world is SHOCKED by what is clearly torture! Savages! Moider da bums! Why, I oughta... Mfmw.

Comic/Cartoon: Candorville

Image Number: 23409
Caption: In an alternate universe, the events of 1968 happen in 2008. Mr. Humphrey, what did you mean by that? My good friends, I'm just saying that if I heard Martin Luther King Jr. say America "may go to hell"… I wouldn't have described King as a man of "love" and "justice." I am by no means implying that THIS MEANS MY OPPONENT, ROBERT F. KENNEDY, SECRETLY HATES AMERICA.

Caption: In an alternate universe, the events of 1968 happen in 2008. What voters demand to know… …is why Democratic Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy hasn't distanced himself from Reverend Martin Luther King Jr… …who recently described America as "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today." Let's ask Kennedy's opponent, Hubert Humphrey, for an unbiased assessment. My good friends, this is troubling...

Caption: In an alternate universe, the events of 1968 happen in 2008. America is outraged by Martin Luther King Jr., who recently said this… "We've committed more war crimes almost than any nation in the world but God has a way of even putting nations in their place. Wolf, I don't think it's fair to form an opinion of a man based on a 10-second clip. Well, in fairness, Mr. Abernathy... ...we've played that clip 9,000 times, so it's more like a 25-hour clip. What?
